There’s a name for that:
Chatfishing.
And it’s not just unfair – it’s deceptive.
Because you’re substituting someone else’s words for your own.
And your date can tell.
Even if you managed to get that distinctive AI voice past them, your date will realize something is up when you meet in person. They’ll expect you to talk like you text…
And when you don’t, they’ll feel deceived.
Make no mistake: those tools are seductive. AI suggested replies are built into many smartphones. The internet is full of lists of texts you can send. Their texts are so much better than anything you could write yourself.
But what is the purpose of texting in the first place?
Is it to impress your date?
Or is it to get to know one another?
Here’s a good rule of thumb:
If you need an idea on what you could text, go ahead and look at AI or the internet for suggestions. Then make it your own. Write the text entirely in your own words.
Take a second pass over it by reading what you’ve written aloud. Does it sound like something you’d actually say?
You want your date to hear your voice.
Because it’s your voice they’re going to fall in love with.
