10% of Men Get All The Matches

You’re heard the horror stories.

The top 10% of men on Hinge get 58% of the likes.
Men get 1 match for every 20 to 50 likes.
70% of active male users on Hinge have never gotten a first date.
The top 10% of men on Tinder get 67% of the likes.

Are they true?

As any woman using those apps can tell you, it’s more than likely.

Why?

Because the vast majority of male profiles are – and this seems to be intentional – a joke.

They’re an “f-you” to women. Disrespectful. Offensive. Half-assed.

Men who don’t use a real picture of themselves. Men who use their profiles to vent their anger. Men who are just doing it as a laugh.

It’s fair to say only 10% of male profiles show any real effort.

Which means those men get a disproportionate number of likes and matches.

If you’re a guy whose profile isn’t performing, try this. Ask an attractive single female friend to revamp it with you. At the very least, ask someone who’s good with a camera to take pictures of you.

Do not trust your judgment. Do not trust your guy friends.

Women know what works and what doesn’t on the apps. They know what makes a profile one of the top 10%. And often the tweaks are simpler than you think. (Just avoiding fish, beer, car, ballcap, and hunting pictures will get you far.)
