Why Do So Many Men Flip The Middle Finger In Their Profile Pic?

WTF?

It looks like he’s flipping you off. Like he doesn’t care what you think.

He thinks this picture is saying:

“I’m a rebel.”
“I don’t follow the rules.”
“I don’t give a flying f*!k.”
“This is what I think of Tinder.”

In other words, he thinks it makes him look tough, edgy, defiant, and macho.

In reality?

He just comes off as a jerk.

“In online dating culture, there is a strong pressure to appear effortless. Showing contempt for the norms of the platform can be a way to signal that you are above it.

Here’s the problem:

He’s not making his profile for women. He’s making it for men.

He’s trying to make his profile impressive in a way other guys would get instantly. A photo like that is an “in joke” among men. They’d think it was hilarious.

He’s not even thinking how women might see it.

If he cared about what women thought, he might realize the picture makes him look juvenile, hostile, and disrespectful.

It shows he’s not putting any effort in – and that’s a turnoff for invested women.

That’s not to say a middle finger profile ruins his chances. Some women appreciate immature humor. But it’s serving as a very strong filter.
